OUR HISTORY

Locally owned and operated, and Headquartered in Portland, Maine since 2003, KW Maine led all Maine Real Estate agencies in both transaction count and volume sold in 2020, and made the 2020 Real Trends Top 500 list and the 2020 Swanepoel Mega 1000 list. 

Four visionary women, Dottie Bowe, Leanne Barschdorf Nichols, Cathy Manchester and Linda Paolino Naylon, brought the KW franchise to Portland, Maine in 2003 after learning about the KW Mission and Models. The company now has branch offices in Kennebunk, Saco, Auburn, Brunswick, Cornish and Bangor and is licensed also in New Hampshire. It remains locally owned by a small group of investors. Additionally, some agents with teams have opened their own offices, all under the KW Maine umbrella. These are referred to at KW as "Mega-Agent Offices."

Keller Williams Realty Greater Portland (KW Maine) is one of the top 5 most profitable KW offices in the entire company and in 2020, the investors again shared over a MILLION DOLLARS in profit with the Maine Associates who have helped to grow the company to over 500 agents in the first 17 years.

Keller Williams® offers its associates unsurpassed career and business training. Educational programs focus on increasing the personal productivity, marketing skills, and career development of all Keller Williams® Associates, from agents to administrators to leadership.

In 2018, Keller Williams International launched KW COMMAND - a proprietary technology platform for Keller Williams® associates and their brokers.

Gary Keller and Joe Williams founded Keller Williams® Realty International in 1983 with the specific premise that buyers and sellers deserve the best service for their real estate needs. For more than 37 years that founding premise has been a major factor in the continued growth of Keller Williams® across the world.

The KW Maine local investor group is predominantly female, and the Operating Principal Cathy Manchester was one of the first agents to join when the doors opened on Dartmouth Street in Portland. As an open-book, profit-sharing company, an Associate Leadership Council of 21 agents/admins reviews company policies, financials and business plans, always putting the agents in the foreground at KW.
